About this snake: Red Spitting Cobra
This snake can be found in eastern
Africa from Northern Tanzania and all the way through to Egypt.
It gets its name from the self defensive bahviour it displays
by spitting venom at its attacker's eyes.
Like all cobras it is potentially dangerous,
but it will not bite unless severely provoked. The Red Spitting
Cobra can grow up to six feet long.
