About this snake:
The Ball Python gets its name from its primary method of
defense. When disturbed, the ball python will wrap itself up
into a ball, protecting its head by hiding it in the middle of
its coils. Some predators, like cats, are discouraged by the
snake's lack of movement and lose interest. Reptile predators
are discouraged because the large, round "ball" shape
makes the python harder to swallow. The Ball Python is one of
Africa's smallest pythons, reaching "only" two meters
(six and a half feet) in length.
